Phase I – Work Areas

The project consists of the approximately 2.7 miles of four-lane divided roadway with associated items of work including one bridge structure (Blue Ridge Parkway crossing over the new roadway) and two box culverts.  The project’s substantial completion date is December 15th, 2005 and the final completion date is May 15th, 2006.

The project has been separated into the following four work areas:

  • Area #1 – This area begins on the west end of the project, just west of Route 600 and ends just east of the Cockram Pond.
  • Area #2 – This area begins east of the Cockram Pond and ends just west of the Blue Ridge Parkway.
  • Area #3 – This area includes the Blue Ridge Parkway Bridge and associated items of work on the Blue Ridge Parkway.
  • Area #4 – This area begins just east of the Blue Ridge Parkway and ends near the post office at the east end of the project.
