Future Phases

Remaining Phases of the Route 58 Corridor:

Twenty mile improvements between Hillsville and Stuart are still to come in order for this Route 58 Corridor project to be fully completed.  As of now, these are the projects set forth to be executed:

Crooked Oak Section

  • Eight mile stretch from the Hillsville Bypass to the Laurel Fork area
  • Encompasses over mountain terrain from Freemont Road to East of Big Reed island Creek
  • Will go from being a two lane roadway section to a four lane sophisticated highway
  • Project will undergo two bridges for completion
  • Utilities in the area will be relocated and all environmental permits and clearances will be obtained

Vesta Section

  • Four miles of roadway from the Meadows of Dan to Stuart, Virginia
  • Extends west of Mabry Mill Road (to the North) and Dan River Road (to the South)
  • Will go from being a two lane roadway section to a four lane sophisticated highway
  • Project will undergo two bridges for completion; One being over the Dan River
  • Utilities in the area will be relocated and all environmental permits and clearances will be obtained

Lover’s Leap

  • Eastern most section of the Corridor located in Stuart, Virginia
  • Extends over 7.8 miles of mountain and rock terrain
  • Will ultimately provide separation from east and west bound lanes which provides a safer travel for the public and any school traffic
  • High elevation differences
  • Utilities in the area will be relocated and all environmental permits and clearances will be obtained
